JEROME, Idaho (KLIX)-Southern Idaho public health officials say Jerome County now has community spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

At least one case of COVID-19 is confirmed to be caught without traveling to an area known to have the virus or being in contact with someone who has it, according to the South Central Public Health District (SCPHD).

The district said in a statement Thursday evening that the community in Jerome County can expect more cases and said people should assume the virus could be anywhere. SCPHD is reporting a total of 35 confirmed cases in Jerome County with two deaths, 89 cases in Twin Falls County with 8 deaths and 15 in Lincoln County.
