This is an update to a fatal accident that happened in Twin Falls, ID on February 22, 2025.

A suspect in the accident who fled the scene has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies.

The Twin Falls Police Department and the City of Twin Falls made the announcement of the arrest today, March 26th, more than a month after the accident.

Idaho Teen Arrested After Fleeing Fatal Vehicular Accident

Edgar Antonio Venegas, and 18-year-old male from Twin Falls, was arrested in connection to the accident that killed 1 person and injured at least 4 others.

30-year-old Jose Malagon was killed in the crash at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Lois Street on the south side of Twin Falls. The intersection has stop signs for traffic heading east and west - north and southbound vehicles do not have to stop at the intersection.

Police believe Venegas ran the stop sign at the intersection and hit Malagon’s car. Venegas fled the scene. Malagon was taken to the hospital in Twin Falls and was then transported to a Boise hospital where he passed away.

Venegas was arrested today following the execution of a warrant and charged with multiple felonies including: vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident, 2 counts of aggravated DUI, and 4 counts of injury to a child.

Venegas also had 4 other people in his car with him at the time of the accident who were treated for injuries.
