Last year, the Golden Corral restaurant in Twin Falls suddenly shut its doors, a move that surprised residents and employees.

There has been speculation about the cause of the closure and what will happen next with the building at the location.

The Building is Gone: Huge Changes at Southern Idaho Restaurant Location

The closure happened early in August of 2024. Just a few weeks later, we reported that Raising Cane’s had expressed interest in buying the Golden Corral property.

In the following months, items from inside the restaurant were auctioned off, and since then, the building has appeared untouched and vacant.

That changed late last week. We went to the grand opening of Sierra in Twin Falls on Saturday and noticed that the Golden Corral building is gone, along with many of the large landscape trees.

We know that Raising Cane’s was approved to open their restaurant with a drive-thru by the Twin Falls City Council in early December of 2024. Raising Cane’s was already working on plans for a Meridian location, and Twin Falls would be their second Idaho restaurant.

When Will Raising Cane’s Open In Twin Falls, ID

We wondered if the building would be repurposed to fit the needs of Raising Cane’s, and the answer is obviously a ‘no’ now. Crews are cleaning up the site as I write this story.

We still don’t have a concrete timeline for the construction and opening of Raising Cane’s in Twin Falls, but the estimated opening is set as ‘early 2026’. It is nice to see progress has begun on making it happen.
