If I am anything beyond being a radio guy, I am a gear head. Translation, I love cars. I grew up loving cars, and in fact, my first car was a 1969 Mustang. Over the years, I have not only learned to love cars and work on cars, but, I have fallen in love with iconic TV and movie cars!

From The Dukes Of Hazard "General Lee" Dodge Charger, to Burt Reynolds black and gold Smokey & The Bandit Firebird, to Disney's Herbie and of course, Knight Rider's talking Firebird Kit, these are the cars of my childhood.

So, imagine my surprise and excitement when I looked out the studio window the other day and saw what appeared to be Speed Racer's car the Mach 5.

Most of have heard of Speed Racer from the 2008 cheese fest movie with Emile Hirsch, while others recall the original Japanese anime from the 60's. Either way, you just don't see a car like this every day.

I bolted outside to see it in the parking lot in front of the station with the door open and and two gentlemen discussing business while I was oohing and aahing over every detail of the incredible replica.

Once I had a chance to talk to the owner it told me it was built on a 1992 Corvette chassis, and it gets a lot of looks and people talking pictures when he drives it around.

But, it was when he hit the lights and the Speed Racer soundtrack that got be clapping and hollering. Incredible.

Clearly this man was driving his dream car and all you could do was smile and say awesome. Drive safe sir, and thank you for the trip down memory land and the personal car show.

Now I'm keeping my eyes open for the Planter's Peanut Mobile and The Oscar-Meyer Weinermobile.
