
When Will the Shoshone Falls and Dierkes Lake in Southern Idaho Reopen?
Access to the Shoshone Falls and Dierkes Lake areas in Twin Falls has been closed since late last year.
The Shoshone Grade Reconstruction Project began in October of 2024, and the City of Twin Falls has now sent out an update on when the road and park access will reopen to the public.

Plans Announced to Reopen Shoshone Falls Access in Twin Falls, ID
When the plans were approved and preparations began on the road improvements, the City of Twin Falls had an indefinite timeline.
The road to Dierkes Lake and the Shoshone Falls was filled with potholes and too narrow for some vehicles in some of the curves. The announcement on social media by the Twin Falls City Hall said the upgrades will ‘reconstruct the scarier sections of the roadway and adjacent rock wall’.
When Will Access Reopen to the Shoshone Falls and Dierkes Lake in Idaho?
Crews have worked through the winter, and the road is getting closer to reopening. During the construction project, the roads and trails into the area have been closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic from the top of the grade near the Wildrose Subdivision and all trail access.
The roadway and parks will reopen to vehicle and pedestrian access on May 22nd, 2025.
