A helicopter crash in Southern Idaho on Thursday left one person dead and another injured.

The crash happened Thursday afternoon at Ririe Reservoir in Bonneville County, east of Idaho Falls.

The press release from the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office has been updated but there is still a lot that is unknown about the deadly helicopter crash.

Rescue personnel responded to the scene at Ririe Reservoir around 4:40 PM where they found the helicopter more than a mile from the dam with 2 people inside. The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, but there was a downed powerline in the area. Why the helicopter was in the area and what caused the crash are still unknown.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office did not share anything about the crash on their social media but the press release can be read on their website.

Utah CEO and Helicopter Pilot Killed in Idaho Crash

While not included in the police press release, various sources are reporting that the pilot was 59-year-old Bradford Brown from Alpine, Utah.
