Idaho State Police Investigating a 3 Truck Accident Near Burley

The Idaho State Police are investigating an accident that happened Thursday night near Burley involving 3 large trucks.

2 Semi Trucks and a Moving Truck Involved in Late Night Crash Near Burley, ID

An accident just after 11 PM near Burley in Southern Idaho involved 3 vehicles that don’t appear to have actually hit each other. The wreck happened at the Yale Road intersection with I-84, south of the I84/86 Interchange. Idaho State Police say the accident happened at 11:03 PM, on November 21st:

a 25-year-old male from Texas was traveling westbound on I-84 in a Penske truck when he exited the roadway and collided with a guard rail. The vehicle overturned and came to a rest in the left lane facing eastbound. Due to the Penske truck not being illuminated, a 49-year-old male driving a Hyundai Freightliner was driving westbound and swerved to miss the objects in the roadway that were left by the Penske truck and came to rest in the median. A 33-year-old driving a Wabash semi was also driving westbound when they ran over the guard rail after witnessing the Hyundai crash.

The drivers of the Penske and Hyundai trucks were taken to local hospitals out of precaution. I84 Exit 228 is for Yale road and is 1 mile north of a rest area.

The report doesn’t specify whether the Penske vehicle was a moving truck or a semi truck, as Penske offers both.

According to Idaho 511, the area is now open but there is a street camera at the exit and it shows crews still on the scene under the overpass.
